1953: Antonio reçoit sa première bourse de la Fondation Guggenheim et effectue son premier voyage aux Etats-Unis. Il en résulte une série de dessins intitulée « Souvenir de Washington » et présentée à l’exhibition : « Impressions of the USA » au Musée d’Art des Amériques en 1954. Ce tableau, « Souvenir de Washington » date de 1957, à la suite de sa deuxième bourse de la Fondation Guggenheim. L’artiste utilise toujours la caséine, n’ayant pas encore fait la transition à l’huile ou à l’acrylique.

1953: Antonio receives his first grant from the Guggenheim Foundation and makes his first trip to the United States. The result is a series of drawings entitled “Souvenir de Washington” and presented at the exhibition: “Impressions of the USA” at the Art Museum of the Americas in 1954. This painting, «Souvenir de Washington» dates from 1957, following his second Guggenheim Foundation grant. The artist still uses casein, having not yet made the transition to oil or acrylic.
